Guizmo, the first dog of our breedingGuizmo, the first dog of our breeding
Guizmo was the last of Coleen litter with 8 puppies. He was the biggest of the litter, with black and white hair and with a nice white line nor too thick, nor too thin.
I had a crush on Guizmo, precisely because he was the biggest and I love big Malamutes (I did not say "giant" because it does not exist for me).
But the reason told to me to keep a puppy with a average weight, because Malamutes too big are not are not good for sledding, and it is primarily why I choice my dogs.
So I decided to listen nor my heart nor my mind and wait until the puppies grow up to find our future dog, in taking account of the character.
But when you are a breeder and you see all these little puppies at your feet, it is difficult to find the one that you will keep.
After a few weeks, we keep a short list with 2 puppies: G'aiwok had our preference and Guizmo. G'aiwok had original marks on his coat, a medium-frame and especially a interesting character, curious, confident and cool.
Unfortunately, as we were looking for a "perfect" sire in order to continue our breeding, G'aiwok had some defects that do not suit this role. We are again interested in Guizmo. It is true that I had neglected the interest I paid him because I thought I would keep G'aiwok.
Guizmo is a puppy with a good physical size, a beautiful black and white coat, neither too short nor too long. Higher on leg than any other puppies, he is also the beefier without giving the impression of being too big. A nice white line across the top of the nose to the top of the skull. The ears, too heavy even for this puppy that grows very quickly, hang. The eyes are dark, and have good size. The tail is well in line with the body. The legs are strong and show beautiful snow "rackets". If it does not become too heavy, or if he is high on leg, he would be a great sled dog.
At the character point of view, he is not the coolest of the litter. He has a very strong character, dominating, probably because of his physical advantage. He is curious and not too scared of new things. He is a little stubborn. He has a very deep voice, since childhood, which goes well with his impressive shape. But he knows very well playing his beautiful eyes to get what he wants. He has a way to move his small black eyes without moving his head that endears anyone.
